Mellen-Thomas Benedict was our guest at our regular May 24, 2011 meeting. He died from the devastating effects of cancer in 1982. However immediately after taking his last breath, he was transported to another realm. He was out for 1 1/2 hours during which time he was healed of his cancer, was shown events from the future, and was returned to his body cancer-free. South Bay IANDS has cancelled the special session on May 11, 2011 because Jaenet Guggenheim, Bll and Gael’s daughter has died. Bill Guggenheim has cancelled his May tour. Nadia McCaffrey, 3-time near-death experiencer and mother of Patrick McCaffrey, who was slain while training Iraqi soldiers in Iraq, was our April 26 speaker. 2 of her NDEs were the result of suicide attempts. She has a compelling story, and she has told it around the globe. We were fortunate to be able to give her a forum here at St. Andrew’s. 28 members attended. Back due to popular demand: Jessica Haynes appeared on March 22nd!

Ellie Schamber and Lewis Griggs appeared on February 22, 2011. They are both near-death experiencers. They host a regular meeting series in Corte Madera at the Sunrise Center entitled “Is There Life After Death?” Their backgrounds could not be more different. As an atheist student-teacher at Cal, Schamber shunned the philosophical idea of Duality. Griggs, formerly having embraced the Western European socioeconomic blueprint now spends his time teaching us to appreciate diversity and relationship. Jim Thomas shared his near-death experience with us. He has treated people suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder (now, Dissociative Identity Disorder). Jim described some of these patients and the difficulty therapists face with their treatment. He discussed how the NDE relates to OBE and DID, for example in cases of physical abuse of a young person. Of the 110 attendees, many regular meeting attendees came to see Jim and many of our fellow parishioners did too, reflecting our love for him, as he was with us for 7 years prior to retirement.
